Oaga Art Resort expands culinary offering with restaurant reboot

Oaga Art Resort Maldives has placed food and beverage at the forefront of its latest island-wide reboot, unveiling expanded dining concepts, a new speciality restaurant and enhanced culinary experiences as the resort reopens on 1 August 2026.

For chefs and hospitality professionals, the redevelopment highlights how evolving food and beverage concepts continue to shape the guest experience, with restaurants becoming central to a resort's identity rather than simply dining venues.

The most significant culinary transformation is at Kaa Kada, the resort's main restaurant, which has been redesigned with larger indoor and outdoor dining areas, an upgraded buffet concept and a new bar.

The refreshed culinary offering introduces dedicated live food stations that showcase a wider variety of international cuisines, including Asian, Mediterranean, vegetarian, grilled and seafood selections. Complementing these is an expanded Maldivian food cart, placing local gastronomy alongside international flavours and reinforcing the importance of destination cuisine within resort dining.

For culinary teams, station-based dining allows greater interaction between chefs and guests while enabling food to be prepared and presented closer to the point of service, enhancing freshness and encouraging live culinary engagement.

The reboot also marks the launch of La' Fuh Dan, Oaga's first Italian speciality restaurant.

Positioned beside the beach, the restaurant combines classic Italian cuisine with ingredients from the Maldives, creating dishes that reinterpret traditional recipes through locally sourced produce and seafood. The concept reflects a broader trend in luxury hospitality, where international cuisines are increasingly adapted to celebrate local ingredients rather than simply replicating regional classics.

Adjacent to the restaurant, a new van bar has been introduced, expanding the resort's beverage offering and creating an additional venue for sunset cocktails and social gatherings.

Recognising changing guest dining patterns, Oaga has also reintroduced Dhan Kada, serving late-night comfort food from 11:00 pm until 7:00 am. Extended dining hours have become an increasingly important component of luxury resort operations, offering greater flexibility while catering to international travellers across different time zones.

Beyond the menus themselves, the refurbishment includes private dining spaces, upgraded guest facilities and an improved restaurant layout, designed to support more efficient service and enhance the overall dining experience.

Although the island-wide reboot also includes refreshed villas, upgraded wellness facilities and expanded recreational spaces, the investment in food and beverage represents one of its most significant developments.

For chefs in the Maldives, the relaunch illustrates the growing emphasis on culinary diversity, interactive dining and destination-inspired menus. By combining expanded live cooking stations, stronger representation of Maldivian cuisine and a new speciality restaurant rooted in Italian traditions, Oaga Art Resort demonstrates how resorts continue to use innovative food concepts to distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive hospitality market.
