Michelin-starred Chef Nicolas Isnard to headline culinary residency at Meyyafushi Maldives

Meyyafushi Maldives has announced an exclusive culinary residency with Michelin-starred French chef Nicolas Isnard, bringing one of France’s leading contemporary culinary figures to the Maldives from 20 to 26 July 2026.

For chefs and hospitality professionals, the week-long residency represents an opportunity to experience Michelin-level gastronomy while benefiting from knowledge-sharing and professional development initiatives led by an internationally recognised chef.

Chef Nicolas Isnard has built a reputation for his modern interpretation of French cuisine, combining classical foundations with contemporary techniques and a strong emphasis on ingredient quality. Throughout his career, he has gained international recognition through Michelin-starred restaurants, culinary collaborations and appearances at prestigious gastronomic events around the world.

During his stay at Meyyafushi, Chef Isnard will present a series of bespoke dining experiences designed to showcase the creativity, precision and elegance associated with modern French gastronomy.

One of the highlights will be an exclusive five-course menu at Bubble, the resort’s underwater restaurant. The experience will combine Michelin-inspired cuisine with panoramic views of the surrounding marine environment, creating a setting where gastronomy and destination dining intersect.

A second signature event will take place at the resort’s Raa Wine Cellar, where Chef Isnard will present a five-course wine-pairing dinner. Designed for culinary enthusiasts and wine lovers alike, the evening will focus on the relationship between food and wine, with carefully selected pairings intended to complement the chef’s culinary style.

For culinary professionals working in the Maldives, the residency extends beyond guest dining experiences. Chef Isnard will work closely with Meyyafushi’s culinary team through a series of training sessions and professional exchanges aimed at enhancing skills, sharing techniques and encouraging culinary innovation.

Such collaborations have become increasingly important within the Maldives hospitality industry, providing local chefs and kitchen teams with access to international expertise while fostering professional growth and exposure to global culinary trends.

The residency also reflects the growing role of guest chef programmes in positioning resorts as gastronomic destinations. Across the Maldives, luxury properties are increasingly investing in collaborations with Michelin-starred and internationally acclaimed chefs to elevate their food and beverage offerings and attract travellers seeking destination-led culinary experiences.

According to Ahmed Siaar, Cluster General Manager of BeKind Hospitality Group, the collaboration aligns with the resort’s vision of delivering distinctive guest experiences.

“His creativity, passion and commitment to culinary excellence align perfectly with our vision of delivering extraordinary experiences for our guests,” he said.

Located in Lhaviyani Atoll, Meyyafushi has been developing a portfolio of experience-led hospitality concepts, including the Bubble underwater restaurant, Raa Wine Cellar and a range of lifestyle-focused facilities.

For chefs and culinary professionals, the Nicolas Isnard residency highlights the continuing evolution of the Maldives as a destination not only for luxury travel but also for world-class gastronomy, culinary innovation and international chef collaboration.
