Michelin-starred Chef Grégoire Berger to collaborate with Lily Beach Resort & Spa

Lily Beach Resort & Spa has announced an exclusive culinary collaboration with Chef Grégoire Berger, the internationally recognised chef and co-owner of Kraken Dubai, bringing one of contemporary gastronomy’s most influential culinary voices to the Maldives this August.

For chefs and hospitality professionals, the collaboration represents an opportunity to explore the work of a chef renowned for combining French culinary techniques with ocean-inspired storytelling and sensory dining experiences.

Chef Berger has earned international recognition for his progressive culinary style, which draws heavily on the sea as both an ingredient source and creative inspiration. His achievements include a Michelin star in the MICHELIN Guide Dubai from 2022 to 2024, as well as recognition among the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and multiple international culinary awards.

Throughout his career, Berger has become known for creating dishes that go beyond flavour and presentation, incorporating narrative, emotion and marine influences into the dining experience. His approach has helped position him among the most distinctive voices in contemporary fine dining.

As part of his visit to Lily Beach Resort & Spa in August 2026, Chef Berger will host an exclusive fine-dining dinner for a limited number of guests. The event will provide diners with the opportunity to experience his culinary philosophy in the Maldives, showcasing techniques and flavour combinations that have earned global acclaim.

In addition to the exclusive dinner, Chef Berger will also create a signature dish for AQVA Bar & Restaurant, allowing a wider range of guests to experience his cuisine during the collaboration period.

For culinary professionals, the partnership reflects the continued growth of chef residencies and guest chef collaborations across the Maldives hospitality sector. Such initiatives not only provide guests with access to internationally recognised culinary talent but also create opportunities for local culinary teams to exchange knowledge, techniques and creative perspectives.

The collaboration aligns with Lily Beach’s long-standing focus on enhancing its food and beverage offering through innovation and curated dining experiences. The resort operates a diverse portfolio of restaurants and bars, ranging from international buffet dining to seafood-focused concepts and speciality cuisine venues.

At the centre of the resort’s culinary offering is its Platinum Plan, one of the Maldives’ most comprehensive all-inclusive concepts, combining premium dining experiences with an extensive beverage programme and guest activities.

For chefs working in the Maldives, Chef Berger’s visit highlights the growing importance of culinary storytelling as a differentiator in luxury hospitality. His ability to transform ingredients and marine influences into immersive dining experiences demonstrates how gastronomy continues to evolve beyond technical execution to encompass narrative, emotion and place.

With Michelin-level expertise, a distinctive creative philosophy and a strong connection to ocean-inspired cuisine, Chef Grégoire Berger’s residency is expected to be one of the notable culinary collaborations in the Maldives hospitality calendar this year.
