The Standard, Maldives unveils festive dining programme for Christmas and New Year
The Standard, Maldives has announced its festive season programme for December 2026, featuring a series of culinary experiences designed to complement the resort’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
For chefs and hospitality professionals, the programme highlights the important role of food and beverage operations in shaping festive guest experiences, combining destination dining, themed events and large-scale gala celebrations.
The festivities will begin on 20 December with a beachfront Tree Lighting Ceremony, followed by a Fire & Grill Dinner at Kula. The dining experience will bring together grilled specialities and festive flavours in an outdoor setting overlooking the Indian Ocean, setting the tone for the holiday season.
Throughout Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, guests will be offered a variety of dining experiences that focus on relaxed, flavour-driven cuisine and social dining. The resort’s culinary programme has been designed to evolve throughout the day, from casual daytime offerings to sunset cocktail experiences and evening dinners that blend gastronomy with entertainment.
For food and beverage teams, the programme reflects a growing trend among Maldives resorts to integrate dining more closely with entertainment, creating immersive celebrations that extend beyond the restaurant setting.
During the festive period, families and younger guests will also have access to seasonal activities through the resort’s Lil’ Shark Kids Club, ensuring that food, entertainment and family experiences are woven together throughout the celebrations.
The culinary calendar will culminate on New Year’s Eve with Reveal Your Glow, the resort’s flagship year-end event. The evening will begin with an extensive gala dinner before transitioning into a beach party featuring live entertainment, fire performances and a midnight fireworks display.
The gala dinner serves as the centrepiece of the New Year celebration, demonstrating the scale and creativity often required from resort culinary teams during one of the busiest periods of the hospitality calendar. Across the Maldives, festive season dining programmes frequently involve specially curated menus, themed buffets, live cooking stations and large-volume event catering designed to deliver memorable guest experiences.
The New Year festivities will be headlined by Thailand-based DJ Kessaé Kimmi, whose performance will accompany the evening’s celebrations and entertainment programme.
For chefs, the festive season remains one of the most significant periods of the year, offering opportunities to showcase creativity, seasonal menus and collaborative experiences that bring together food, beverage and entertainment.
The Standard, Maldives’ festive programme reflects this evolving approach, where culinary experiences are not standalone events but central elements of broader celebrations designed to create lasting memories for guests.
