Aura Maldives to bring Asian fine dining, teppanyaki and wellness cuisine to Baa Atoll

Pulse Hotels & Resorts has unveiled Aura Maldives, a new island retreat scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a culinary programme centred on local sourcing, wellness-conscious cuisine and varied dining formats.

The resort was introduced at an exclusive partner launch event held in association with Reollo Travel. The event brought together Maldives-focused luxury travel agents, selected media, journalists and travel bloggers, marking the first global showcase of Aura Maldives to industry stakeholders.

Located in Baa Atoll, within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Aura Maldives is being developed as a contemporary resort focused on design, wellbeing and experience-led hospitality. The property will feature 71 private villas across beach and overwater settings, with one- to five-bedroom layouts ranging from 246sqm to 1,350sqm. Each villa will include ensuite spaces, a private pool, separate living areas and indoor-outdoor areas suited to couples, families and multi-generational travellers.

For chefs and culinary professionals, the resort’s planned dining portfolio is among the key elements of the concept. Aura Maldives will feature a beachfront grill based on elemental cooking, an overwater Asian-fusion fine dining restaurant, a teppanyaki concept, a wood-fired pizzeria, a nomadic pop-up kitchen, a beach club and pool bar, and an all-day dining restaurant.

The resort said its culinary direction will be guided by locally and responsibly sourced ingredients. The food and beverage offering will focus on flavour-led and wellness-conscious cuisine, aligning with the wider resort concept of holistic wellbeing. The beach club and pool bar will also serve craft cocktails and premium zero-proof alternatives, reflecting growing demand for non-alcoholic beverage options in luxury hospitality.

The combination of Asian fine dining, teppanyaki, open-fire cooking, pizzeria operations and pop-up kitchen concepts suggests a broad culinary platform for the resort’s kitchen teams. It also points to opportunities for menu development across live cooking, destination dining, wellness menus, plant-forward options, beverage pairing and locally inspired dishes.

Wellness will form a central part of the guest experience. Solasta Spa, located at the heart of the island, will offer treatments inspired by Maldivian traditions and global wellness practices. Facilities will include hammam experiences, hot- and cold-plunge pools, a lagoon-facing sauna and a hyperbaric chamber. The resort will also offer yoga, mindfulness sessions and ocean-sound meditations.

A private island reserve will also be part of the property. It will include five villas in one- to five-bedroom layouts, as well as a gym, padel court, spa, café and BBQ grill for guests seeking privacy and exclusive-use stays.

Speaking at the launch, Mohamed Khaleel, Managing Director of Pulse Hotels & Resorts, said Aura Maldives was based on a vision extending beyond conventional hospitality.

“Aura Maldives is founded on a vision that goes beyond hospitality. We believe in caring for the environment, honouring our natural heritage, and showing that true luxury can coexist with sustainability, not replace it,” he said.

Nuaas Mohamed, Group Director of Sales, said the resort had been positioned for the expectations of the modern luxury traveller.

“Aura Maldives has been thoughtfully positioned to meet the expectations of today’s luxury traveller. It offers a distinct balance between refined design and the natural rhythm of island life,” he said.

Aura Maldives will join the expanding portfolio of Pulse Hotels & Resorts. The company said the resort reflects its continued focus on innovation in the upper-upscale and luxury segments, as demand grows for sustainable and experience-driven travel in the Maldives.
