One&Only Reethi Rah showcases Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Palmer and Champagne in wine dinners

One&Only Reethi Rah has hosted three wine-pairing experiences featuring Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Palmer and a special Champagne dinner, bringing together French winemaking heritage and curated gastronomy at the Maldives luxury resort.

The series included a Château Lafite Rothschild Wine Pairing Dinner, a World Champagne Day celebration and a Château Palmer Wine Pairing Dinner. Each event was designed to explore the relationship between fine wines and cuisine, while introducing guests to the history and characteristics of renowned wine producers.

For chefs, sommeliers and food and beverage professionals, the events highlighted the role of collaboration between culinary and beverage teams in developing dining experiences centred on wine appreciation.

Château Lafite Rothschild and Bordeaux gastronomy

One of the highlights was a wine-pairing dinner dedicated to Château Lafite Rothschild, the historic Bordeaux estate located in Pauillac, France.

The evening celebrated the estate’s winemaking heritage, with carefully curated culinary pairings selected to complement the wines.

Château Lafite Rothschild is among Bordeaux’s First Growth estates, recognised for its Cabernet Sauvignon-led wines and longstanding place in French winemaking.

The dinner provided an opportunity to explore the interaction between food and wine, with menu pairings forming a central part of the experience.

World Champagne Day celebration

The resort also hosted a Champagne Pairing Dinner in celebration of World Champagne Day, bringing together selected Champagnes and complementary cuisine.

The experience focused on the characteristics of Champagne and its versatility in gastronomic pairings.

For culinary and sommelier teams, Champagne presents a range of pairing possibilities, with acidity, effervescence, texture and ageing characteristics influencing how different styles interact with food.

The event offered guests an opportunity to appreciate Champagne beyond its traditional role as an aperitif, placing it at the centre of a dedicated dining experience.

Château Palmer wine-pairing dinner

The third event featured Château Palmer, another established Bordeaux wine estate, located in the Margaux appellation.

The Château Palmer Wine Pairing Dinner celebrated the estate’s winemaking traditions, with a curated culinary experience designed to complement the wines.

The dinner provided another opportunity to explore Bordeaux wines alongside cuisine, introducing guests to the distinctive characteristics of Château Palmer and the importance of thoughtful food and wine combinations.

Culinary and sommelier collaboration

Across the three events, One&Only Reethi Rah placed wine appreciation at the centre of its dining experiences, combining selected wines with menus developed to complement their characteristics.

Such events require coordination between chefs and sommeliers, particularly when considering ingredients, cooking methods, sauces and flavour intensity in relation to different wine styles.

The dinners also provided opportunities for guests to learn about the heritage and craftsmanship of internationally recognised wine estates.

Through its Château Lafite Rothschild, World Champagne Day and Château Palmer experiences, One&Only Reethi Rah continued to showcase wine-led gastronomy as part of its food and beverage offering, highlighting the contribution of its culinary and sommelier teams to specialised dining experiences in the Maldives.
