Lobster, Champagne and wine pairings shape Fushifaru Maldives’ festive culinary programme
Fushifaru Maldives will place food and beverage experiences at the centre of its 2026 festive programme, with Lobster & Champagne dinners, steak and wine pairing evenings, seafood celebrations and Christmas and New Year’s Eve gala dinners forming part of the island’s year-end calendar.
The resort’s festive season will combine its culinary programme with a Coachella-inspired concept featuring festival-style décor, sunset DJ sessions, live music, cocktail parties and beachside gatherings. Against this setting, Fushifaru’s culinary and beverage teams will deliver a series of themed experiences ranging from fine dining on the beach to large-scale festive galas.
Among the programme’s key culinary experiences will be Lobster & Champagne dinners, bringing together seafood and sparkling wine in a beachfront setting. The dinners will put lobster at the centre of the menu, combining the ingredient with a beverage pairing traditionally associated with celebratory dining.
For chefs, such a pairing provides opportunities to work across contrasting flavour and texture profiles. Lobster’s natural sweetness can be complemented by the acidity and effervescence of Champagne, while preparation techniques, sauces and accompaniments can be adjusted around the characteristics of the selected wines.
Fushifaru will also stage steak nights accompanied by curated wine pairings. These dinners will give the culinary and beverage teams an opportunity to work together on the progression of the meal, matching cuts and preparations with wines selected to complement their richness, seasoning and sauces.
Wine pairing has become an increasingly important component of resort dining in the Maldives, particularly within special-event and tasting-menu formats. Beyond the wine selection itself, successful pairing requires coordination between the kitchen and beverage teams so that the weight, acidity, sweetness and intensity of each component work together.

Seafood will feature elsewhere in Fushifaru’s festive calendar through dedicated seafood celebrations accompanied by live entertainment. The combination reflects the resort’s wider approach to the season, in which dining is positioned not as a standalone restaurant experience but as part of an evening bringing together food, music, setting and social interaction.
The culinary programme will culminate in the resort’s Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve gala dinners.
For resort culinary teams, gala dinners represent some of the most demanding services of the year. They require chefs to balance menu development and presentation with substantially higher covers, multiple live or buffet components, ingredient procurement, mise en place and service coordination. At the same time, guests expect the dining experience to distinguish itself from regular resort operations and reflect the significance of the occasion.
At Fushifaru, the two gala dinners will bring together the resort’s festive food offering with its broader entertainment programme, creating large-scale celebrations around Christmas and the arrival of 2027.
Beverage service will also play a visible role throughout the festive period. Cocktail parties and sunset gatherings will be accompanied by flair bartending, while bartenders will become part of the entertainment through live preparation and performance.
Flair bartending adds a different dimension to conventional beverage service by turning cocktail preparation into a guest-facing performance. Within Fushifaru’s festival-inspired concept, this element will complement the DJs, live music, fire shows and other entertainment scheduled across the season.
The resort will use warm golden tones, colourful accents, fairy lights and festival-style styling to establish the visual identity for its celebrations. Sunset DJ sets and beach gatherings will extend this concept into the food and beverage programme, particularly for outdoor dinners, cocktail events and late-evening celebrations.
The year’s largest celebration will take place on New Year’s Eve, beginning with sunset cocktails before moving through live entertainment, DJs and dancing. A countdown pool party will take guests into 2027.
“At Fushifaru, the festive season has always been about bringing people together,” said Jumana, Resident Manager of Fushifaru Maldives.
“This year we’ve created a celebration that feels vibrant, relaxed and authentically Fushifaru. From golden sunsets and incredible dining to live entertainment and meaningful family experiences, we want every guest to leave with memories that will last long after the holidays are over.”

Interactive culinary activities will extend to younger guests as well. The resort’s family programme includes pizza-making classes, allowing children to participate in a hands-on food experience alongside Christmas ornament making, treasure hunts, sandcastle competitions, mini Olympics, face painting and Boduberu workshops.
Pizza making is among the culinary activities that resorts can readily adapt for younger guests, introducing basic processes such as handling dough, selecting toppings and assembling a dish while giving the kitchen team an opportunity to engage directly with families outside normal restaurant service.
Fushifaru’s festive programme illustrates the increasingly broad role played by culinary and beverage teams during the Maldives’ peak festive period. Rather than concentrating food programming solely around Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, resorts are developing calendars of smaller themed dinners, pairings, interactive classes, cocktails and destination-dining experiences across the entire holiday period.
For chefs, pastry teams, sommeliers, bartenders and restaurant professionals, this requires close collaboration across disciplines. A Lobster & Champagne dinner depends as much on beverage selection and service as the preparation of the principal ingredient, while gala dinners require coordination between culinary, pastry, stewarding, restaurant and events teams. Cocktail-led gatherings similarly place bartenders and beverage professionals at the forefront of the guest experience.
Fushifaru will complement its dining and entertainment calendar with watersports, sunset fishing, marine activities, snorkelling and scuba diving, as well as wellness experiences and seasonal spa treatments.
The resort is also offering an Early Bird Festive Escape for stays between 24 December 2026 and 10 January 2027. The offer includes savings of up to 25 per cent on villa accommodation, 25 per cent on extra-person charges and 25 per cent on return seaplane transfers for stays of at least five nights.
Through its 2026 festive programme, Fushifaru Maldives is bringing together themed dining, wine and Champagne pairings, seafood, cocktails and large-scale gala service within a festival-inspired island celebration. For the resort’s food and beverage teams, the season will provide a platform to move between intimate beachfront dining and high-volume festive events while keeping culinary experiences at the heart of the Christmas and New Year programme.
