JOALI BEING unveils chef-led culinary programme for festive season

JOALI BEING will bring together chef-led dining, international cuisines, seafood experiences and hands-on culinary masterclasses as part of its Tides of Tradition festive programme, running from 22 December 2026 to 8 January 2027.

The well-living island’s festive calendar combines gastronomy with wellbeing, family activities and island experiences, with food and beverage programming spanning Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and a series of speciality dining events throughout the season.

Among the culinary highlights is the five-course Chef’s Table Collection, providing a more intimate format centred on the chefs, their menus and the progression of individual courses.

The programme will also feature Spirit of the Orient, Italian Essence and Japanese specialities at Yutori, giving the culinary team opportunities to work across different regional cuisines and techniques during the festive period.

Christmas and New Year dining

Christmas Eve will be marked with the Feast of Christmas Wonders, bringing together festive favourites, JOALI BEING signature dishes and thoughtfully sourced ingredients in a celebratory dinner.

The season will culminate with A World of Magic on New Year’s Eve. The programme will begin with sunset cocktails before moving into a gala dinner, followed by the midnight countdown and entertainment.

For culinary and F&B teams, Christmas and New Year gala services represent some of the most complex operations of the resort calendar. Large-scale production must be balanced with menu quality, timing, beverage service and presentation while kitchens simultaneously support other outlets and dining experiences.

JOALI BEING’s programme extends beyond these major gala occasions, distributing its culinary offering across multiple formats throughout the festive period.

Seafood by the sand and poolside dining

The Maldives setting will feature more directly through toes-in-the-sand seafood dinners at MOJO, combining seafood-focused menus with beachfront service.

Such destination-led dining places additional operational considerations on kitchen and service teams, from maintaining food quality and temperature outside a conventional restaurant environment to coordinating live or remote service near the beach.

MOJO Pool will also host the Island Splash Pool Party, pairing cocktails and festive bites with live music and poolside activities.

The format brings the beverage and culinary teams together in a more informal service environment, requiring food and drinks to be suited to the pace and setting of a poolside event.

Guests move into the kitchen

Alongside restaurant dining, JOALI BEING will incorporate practical culinary education through pasta, sushi and artisan pizza masterclasses.

Each format introduces guests to a different set of kitchen skills. Pasta making centres on dough preparation, shaping and texture; sushi requires precision in rice preparation, knife work and ingredient handling; while artisan pizza brings together dough fermentation, shaping, toppings and heat management.

For chefs, masterclasses also require a different skill set from restaurant service. Techniques that are normally performed as part of kitchen production must be broken down, demonstrated and communicated in a way that allows guests to participate.

Culinary workshops will also form part of the programme at B’Kidult, giving younger guests and families opportunities to engage with food preparation alongside the island’s wider festive activities.

Food within the Joy of Well-Living

As a wellbeing-focused resort, JOALI BEING positions its culinary programme within its broader Joy of Well-Living philosophy. The festive calendar therefore places dining alongside movement, mindfulness, hydrotherapy, nature and visiting practitioner programmes.

Within this context, the use of thoughtfully sourced ingredients and varied dining formats allows food to function as both a celebratory and social element of the festive experience.

For Maldives culinary professionals, the programme demonstrates the breadth required of resort F&B operations during the festive season. In less than three weeks, teams will move between chef-led tasting menus, regional cuisines, seafood dinners, gala service, poolside bites, cocktails and interactive cooking classes.

Rather than concentrating festive gastronomy around Christmas and New Year alone, Tides of Tradition uses a succession of culinary formats to keep chefs, bartenders and service teams at the centre of the programme from 22 December through 8 January.
