Fruit mixing and gingerbread making lead Reethi Faru Resort’s festive programme

Reethi Faru Resort has welcomed the festive season with its annual Fruit Mixing Ceremony, marking the beginning of Christmas and New Year celebrations that will include gingerbread house making, festive dining and a New Year’s Eve gala.

The Fruit Mixing Ceremony marks one of the traditional preparations associated with Christmas baking, bringing together ingredients used in festive fruit cakes and other seasonal creations.

For pastry and bakery professionals, fruit mixing is an important part of festive preparation, with dried fruits, nuts and spices traditionally combined ahead of Christmas to allow flavours to develop before baking.

The ceremony also provides an opportunity to introduce guests to the culinary traditions associated with the festive season and the preparation involved behind the scenes in resort kitchens.

Alongside the ceremony, Reethi Faru Resort will offer gingerbread house making as part of its family activities. The experience introduces younger guests to festive baking and decorating, combining creativity with an interactive culinary activity.

Gingerbread house making has become a familiar feature of Christmas programmes at Maldives resorts, allowing pastry teams to engage with guests beyond conventional dessert production.

Christmas dinner and New Year gala

The resort’s festive culinary calendar will include a Christmas dinner and a New Year’s Eve gala, bringing guests together for two of the season’s principal dining occasions.

The New Year’s Eve celebration will continue with a DJ party to welcome 2027.

For the resort’s culinary and food and beverage teams, these events will involve preparations across kitchen, pastry, bakery and service departments, alongside the coordination required for festive dining and entertainment.

The programme will also include a selection of other dining experiences throughout the holiday period.

Beyond gastronomy, Reethi Faru Resort has scheduled Christmas tree decorating, creative workshops, a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s arrival, alongside its anniversary celebration.

Guests will also be able to participate in coral planting with a marine biologist, yoga, spa treatments, water sports, island excursions and diving experiences.

Live music, Maldivian cultural performances and outdoor movie nights will form part of the entertainment programme.

According to the resort, the celebrations have been designed to bring together Christmas and New Year traditions with experiences highlighting the Maldives’ natural environment and cultural heritage.

For Reethi Faru Resort’s culinary and pastry teams, the festive programme provides opportunities to showcase traditional Christmas preparations alongside large-scale celebratory dining.

From the opening Fruit Mixing Ceremony and gingerbread house activities to Christmas dinner and the New Year’s Eve gala, food will remain an important part of the resort’s holiday celebrations.
