Patina Maldives welcomes Chef Maxim Artyukhov for Orthodox Christmas culinary residency
Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, will welcome Russian chef Maxim Artyukhov for a series of culinary experiences celebrating Orthodox Christmas from 4 to 7 January 2027, bringing Russian and European gastronomy to the resort through special dining events and festive celebrations.
Artyukhov, Brand Chef and Executive Chef of SATEEN GROUP, will present dining experiences at Fari Beach Club on 4 and 5 January, drawing inspiration from the culinary heritage of Russia’s Don region.
Known for his interpretation of European and Russian cuisine, Artyukhov combines regional culinary traditions with contemporary techniques and an emphasis on farm-sourced ingredients.
His residency will introduce guests to the flavours and culinary influences of the Don region, offering an opportunity to experience Russian gastronomy within the Maldives’ international resort dining scene.

Russian culinary traditions at Fari Beach Club
The two-day programme at Fari Beach Club will place Artyukhov’s approach to regional cuisine at the centre of the dining experience.
For chefs and culinary professionals, the residency highlights the growing role of visiting-chef collaborations in introducing regional food cultures to international audiences.
Artyukhov’s work draws on traditional Russian and European cooking while incorporating contemporary preparation and presentation techniques, reflecting how regional culinary heritage can be interpreted within modern hospitality.
The programme will also provide an opportunity for culinary exchange between the visiting chef and Patina Maldives’ resident kitchen team.

Orthodox Christmas dining at Helios Pavilion
The culinary programme will continue on 6 January with an Orthodox Christmas celebration at Helios Pavilion.
The evening will begin with Christmas cocktails and canapés before guests are served a specially curated menu featuring international delicacies alongside Russian specialities prepared by Artyukhov.
The dinner will bring together traditional festive flavours and contemporary dining, offering guests an introduction to dishes associated with Russian culinary heritage.
For Patina Maldives’ food and beverage teams, the event will combine visiting-chef cuisine with cocktail and canapé service, followed by a structured festive dining experience.
The evening will also feature a live performance by Anton Belyaev, founder and frontman of Russian band Therr Maitz, whose music combines indie, electronic, soul and pop influences. A fireworks display will conclude the celebration.

Culinary heritage through festive celebrations
The Orthodox Christmas programme will extend beyond dining, with activities for families and younger guests, including yoga, nature-inspired workshops, snorkelling introductions and outdoor games.
On 7 January, Russian festive traditions will continue with an appearance by Ded Moroz and his granddaughter Snegurochka, two figures associated with Russian winter celebrations.
The culinary residency forms part of Patina Maldives’ wider approach to bringing international chefs and cultural experiences to Fari Islands.
Through Artyukhov’s dining events, the resort will introduce Russian regional gastronomy as part of its Orthodox Christmas celebrations, connecting traditional recipes and contemporary culinary techniques with a festive programme in the Maldives.
For chefs and food and beverage professionals, the collaboration offers another example of how visiting-chef programmes can bring international culinary traditions into resort kitchens while expanding the range of dining experiences available to guests.
