Kandima Maldives brings Bavarian flavours to the beach with Oktoberfest
Kandima Maldives will bring Oktoberfest to the tropics this October, with a beachside event combining Bavarian-inspired food, Erdinger beer, live acoustic music and outdoor entertainment.
Oktoberfest by the Beach will take place at Breeze Beach as part of Kandima’s month-long Oktober Adventures programme. The event will adapt the traditions of the German beer festival to an island setting, placing food and beverage service alongside ocean views, sand and informal beach activities.
Held in partnership with Erdinger, the event will feature chilled German beer and Bavarian-inspired flavours. The menu has been designed to complement the beer-led format, although the resort has not released details of the individual dishes or recipes.
For the culinary team, presenting Oktoberfest in a Maldivian beach environment requires the kitchen and service operation to balance the character of the cuisine with the practical demands of outdoor dining. Food preparation, holding temperatures, replenishment and plating must be coordinated with the movement of guests, live entertainment and changing conditions at the beach.
The relaxed format is intended to support shared dining, with guests able to enjoy food and beer while listening to live acoustic performances and taking part in beach games. The combination of German beer and Bavarian-inspired dishes gives Kandima’s food and beverage team an opportunity to present a regional culinary theme within a resort dining environment.
The Oktoberfest event forms part of a wider programme of activities at Kandima during October. Guests can take part in e-go-karting at Fast Track, while Kandiland kids’ club and PlaySpace will offer creative activities and games for younger visitors.
The resort’s Aquaholics watersports centre will provide ocean activities, alongside visiting sports and fitness talent, cycling, wellness sessions and other island experiences. These activities are intended to complement the food and beverage programme by encouraging guests to move between beach, recreation and dining venues throughout their stay.
Kandima’s October dining programme will also include the resort’s wider collection of restaurants and bars. The month is positioned as a period for families, couples and groups of friends to combine themed events with the resort’s regular culinary offering.
By moving Oktoberfest to the beach, Kandima Maldives will present a festival traditionally associated with Munich in a tropical setting, using German beer, Bavarian-inspired food and live entertainment as the central elements of the experience.
